Our specialized physical therapy “house calls” provide outpatient physical therapy in the convenience of your home. There is no need to arrange transportation if you are unable to drive, find childcare if you have young children, or take extra time out for your day for travel to an appointment. Stay Mobile Physical Therapy provides direct 1 on 1 patient care in your home with the same therapist each session at a comparable or even less expensive cost compared to traditional clinics.
Common questions we hear from patient’s are do I need to have gym equipment at home? Or do I need to purchase the equipment? The answer is NO. We maximize each session by bringing the equipment directly to you. We are unable to bring large items such as bikes or treadmills; however, if you have a stationary bike or treadmill at home we can instruct you on fitting, safety, and the correct time to add it to your exercise routine.
Here is the equipment you can expect to see at your physical therapy “house call”.
A portable treatment table. This allows you to have a sturdy and firm work surface for your exercises.
Therapist essentials: goniometers, measuring tape, scissors, and a timer. We use these tools to get precise measurements to track your progress and work towards your goals. We use the latest in evidence based research and functional movement to provide high quality patient care each and every session.
Resistance bands in varied strength and styles. The type of band you use can make a big difference in how the exercise feels. We bring a large variety of resistance bands in latex and latex free styles to accommodate individual preferences and needs.
Mobilization tools: these help the therapist work on soft tissue restrictions or “muscle knots”. These restrictions can cause pain and limit movement/mobility. The therapist will also educate you on which tools are the best for you as well as how to use them. This will allow you to manage your condition independently after the therapy sessions are complete.
Light weights: a common problem that leads to injury is ” too much too fast” when it comes to external weights. Very little “extra” weight is needed to affect tendon/muscle change. Body weight exercises are powerful enough in most cases. In certain positions or circumstances a light weight may be needed.
Mini Ball: adds stability and dynamic strengthening to exercises. Life doesn’t happen in one plane of movement therefore the best exercises will include multi-directional strengthening.
Dowel Rod: in some situations your “good” side will need to help your “bad” side. This simple tool is very effective for those exercises.
Stretching tools: these help to improve flexibility and mobility in a safe and controlled environment.
Balance activities: these will challenge your balance to help improve your proprioception or body’s awareness of where it is and what surface it is on. This helps regain stability after injury or surgery and also helps decrease the risk of falls.
Our therapist will also bring all the necessary cleaning supplies and PPE. You can rest assured that each piece of equipment is cleaned after each use and your therapist will wear all appropriate/recommended PPE during your session. Our therapist is fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Your health and safety is our highest priority.
